A Nintendo eShop card adds funds to your Nintendo Account balance, which buys games and DLC on Switch and covers Nintendo Switch Online. Redeemed funds are shared across the account, so a family with linked accounts can draw from the same balance depending on how sharing is set up.
eShop cards are region-locked to the account's country, and Nintendo is strict about it: a US eShop card only works on a US Nintendo Account, and the region cannot be changed once there is a balance. Ours are US codes. A $35 card is the typical top-up for a mid-price download plus a bit of DLC. Funds do not expire.

- On the Switch, open the eShop, select your account, choose Redeem a Code, and enter the 16-character code. Or redeem it at nintendo.com signed in to your account. Funds add to your balance.
- Are eShop cards region-locked?
- Yes, strictly. A US eShop code only redeems on a US-region Nintendo Account, and the account region cannot be changed while a balance exists. Confirm your region first.
- Can the funds cover Nintendo Switch Online?
- Yes. eShop balance can be used for Nintendo Switch Online memberships as well as games and DLC.
- Do the funds expire?
